Caribbean | Windstar Cruises - Star Pride

Departure Dates:

March

General Info:

This is the Caribbean for those with a taste for something a bit more exotic. Colonial influences are still going strong here, from the “Little England” island of Barbados to still-very-Dutch Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. Days ashore promise unexpected discoveries including a donkey sanctuary on Bonaire, underground rivers and caves in Barbados, a chocolate factory on Grenada, an artist colony on Curaçao. Beaches seem to shrug off the challenge of more northerly islands as they establish a standard of beauty all their own, swept by steady gust-free trade winds that make learning to windsurf a breeze. And between each eventful island, there is time to savor your surroundings, both on shore and on the decks of your elegant yacht on this Caribbean cruise.

Type of Vessel

With only 212 guests, a Star Pride cruise will make you feel like you're on board your own private yacht almost as soon as you step aboard. The sitting area of your spacious, newly refurbished suite gives you an expansive ocean view, making it a welcome retreat. When you're ready to make an appearance, the lounges, club, casino, screening room, and library are waiting to be explored. Take some "you" time in the tranquil WindSpa, enjoy a dip in the pool, work off that decadent dessert in the fitness center, and, of course, you are always welcome to visit the Bridge to examine navigation charts with the Captain.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Oranjestad, Aruba: Known for having some of the best beaches in the Caribbean, this Dutch port makes it easy to just take it easy. Walk through town to choose your favorite carved wooden door, or spend the day like the Arubans do playing dominos at a beachside table.

Day 2 | Kralendijk, Bonaire: The ice cream colors of the stucco houses will draw your lens, as will the pink flamingos on the salt pans. But you’ll need a waterproof camera to complete the portrait since more than 400 fish species and 50 types of coral wait beneath the surface.

Day 3 | Willemstad, Curacao: Savor the pastel colors of the historic UNESCO site Old Town and the way the elaborate Dutch gables cut baroque curlicues from the sky. It’s the perfect appetizer for a day of watersports or an adventure below ground at the magical Hato Caves, filled with eerie limestone formations and ancient petroglyphs.

Day 4 | At Sea: Guests can enjoy the day among the many fun and relaxing amenities that the Star Pride has to offer.

Day 5 | St. George’s, Grenada: Inhale the intoxicating aroma of the “Isle of Spice” as your eyes feast on what is widely claimed to be the most beautiful city in the Caribbean. Spend the day on two-mile-long Grand Anse beach, diving, or tubing through Grand Etang Rainforest Reserve. Before you go, a taste of nutmeg ice cream is a must.

Day 6 | Man-O-War Bay, Charlotteville, Tobago: Listen for the sound of a conch announcing the return of the fishing boats. Bobbing next to us are flotillas of pelicans, hinting at the excellent snorkeling waiting for you here and in neighboring Pirate’s Bay.

Day 7 | Mayreau, St. Vincent Grenadines With fewer than 300 inhabitants and miles of secluded beaches, it's easy to feel as if you're on your own private island. Salt Whistle Bay is a delightful anchorage that separates the Caribbean from the Atlantic - and a perfect place to play with some of the toys from the Watersports Platform.

Day 8 | Bridgetown, Barbados: Brightly painted chattel houses and abandoned windmills dot the landscape while in town, red double-decker buses and traffic “bobbies” give a nod to the island’s British heritage.
