These special departure combines an expedition voyage with coastal treks on some of Tasmania's best walking tracks - a uniquely Australian back-to-nature experience.

Type of Vessel

Coral Discoverer is the grand vision of Coral Expeditions, pioneers in expedition and adventure cruises. Her shallow draught and maneuverability allow her to go where larger vessels cannot. Her tender vessel, Xplorer, can seat all 72 passengers for excursions to beaches and rivers. Coral Discoverer is equipped with latest technology active stabilizers to ensure comfortable cruising in open waters and is fitted with modern safety and navigation equipment and wireless internet facilities.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Mt Beattie, Port Davey: Mt Beattie is an easy to moderate walk located close to magnificent Port Davey. The raw and remote beauty of this wilderness area is enhanced by the breathtaking views over Bathurst Channel and Bathurst Harbour.

Day 2 | Grandvewe Cheeses: Tour and tasting at Grandvewe Cheeses, the only organic sheep cheesery in Australia. Taste up to 8 different products and and viewing the process of cheese making from paddock to palate. Explore the Woodbridge Marine Discovery Centre and learn about and meet species including lobsters, urchins and octopuses. Explore Huon Cruise and quaint Franklin Township, the oldest town in the region. Visit the Wooden Boat School and meet the craftsmen who hand-make each vessel.

Day 3 | Cape Hauy, Three Capes: Cape Hauy (part of the Three Capes Walk) is a medium difficulty walk through an extraordinary landscape. Experience views of Fortescue Bay from Mt Fortescue and the dolerite columns at the tip of Cape Hauy.

Day 4 | Fortescue Bay to Waterfall Bay: The Fortescue Bay to Waterfall Bay trail is noted for providing an experience of some of the most magnificent coastline in Tasmania. The rainforest and blue gum stands and views of the Tasman Peninsula are nothing short of spectacular. At the end of this longer medium grade walk, the Coral Discoverer will be waiting to collect hikers.

Day 5 | Freycinet National Park & Wineglass Bay: The spectacular peninsula of Freycinet is crafted from pink granite peaks - the Hazard mountains - surrounded by azure bays, and backed by dry eucalyptus forest. Enjoy a hike to the Wineglass Bay Lookout and later, join a beachcombers walk along Wineglass Bay, consistently voted one of the most breathtaking beaches in the world.

Day 6 | Bishop and Clerk: Bishop and Clerk is a challenging walk located in the Maria Island National Park. Pass through diverse landscapes of grasslands and forest, to emerge overlooking a dramatic and sweeping view of the Southern Ocean.

Day 7 | Fluted Cape, Bruny Island: The Fluted Cape walk on Bruny Island is a moderate walk that stays close to the coastal cliffs, providing spectacular views of Fluted Cape and the distant Tasman Peninsula. Bruny Island showcases rich history, magnificent scenery, and abundant wildlife.

Day 8 | Port Arthur Historic Site: Be sent back in time, and gain an understanding of the life of convicts that built Tasmania at Port Arthur Historic Site. This is Australia's most evocative convict site housing Britain and Australia's 'worst' criminals. Participate in an exclusive 'behind the scenes' tour guided by a resident archaeologist. The tour features private collections and historical buildings not accessible to the public.

There are three fully stocked cocktail bars and a spacious modern dining area where guests can enjoy meals. The ship's forward lounge is a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery in air-conditioned comfort and features a comprehensive reference library and plasma screens. The Sun Deck at the rear with a outdoor area is another popular place to relax and take in the panoramic views.
Guests can also enjoy the library during their cruise.

Staterooms or Cabins

Main Deck Staterooms are located close to the Dining Room, our six spacious Main Deck (Category A) staterooms are 195 square feet in size and feature large, twin porthole windows or just two twin portholes for expansive ocean views, along with a desk, sofa, telephone and your choice of Junior King or twin bedding.
Bridge Deck Balcony Staterooms which are located on the exclusive Bridge Deck close to the Lounge and Bridge, feature six spacious staterooms that are 195 square feet in size and feature picture windows for expansive ocean views, along with a sofa, desk, telephone and your choice of Junior King or twin bedding.

Fitness

The fitness center is equipped with elliptical trainers and treadmills for guests who wish to continue their workouts while traveling.
