Itinerary

Day 1: USA / Tokyo |

Arrive in Tokyo with your loved one and meet your private transfer bound for the romantic Hyatt Regency Tokyo for three nights in an elegant Club guestroom with exclusive Regency Club lounge access with daily breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Day 2: Tokyo |

This morning, head out for a half-day, Panoramic Tokyo Excursion. Begin at Meiji Jingu Shrine, honoring Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken with its distinguished forest composed of 100,000 trees. Continue to the Imperial East Garden, exploring its beautifully intricate landscape, massive stones and ruins. Then, discover Tokyo's oldest Buddhist temple, Senso-ji, displaying its giant red paper lantern at the Kaminarimon Gate and festive Nakamise Shopping. After lunch, delight in a scenic Tokyo Bay Cruise and a visit to Odaiba.

Day 3: Tokyo |

Spend a full day on the Hidden Kamakura & Enoshima Excursion. Begin at Kamakura's Jomyo-ji Temple, the family temple of the Ashikaga clan, and the stunning tearoom for delicious green matcha tea and sweet treats. Proceed to the ancient Hokoku-ji Temple, famous for its bamboo and incredible Zen sand gardens, and Kotoku-in Temple with its great monumental Buddha, before sharing a delicious Japanese-style lunch. Next, drive across the bridge to Enoshima, a small offshore island known for its relaxing hot springs, lighthouse, and famous Hetsumiya and Nakatsumiya Shrines, said to bring its visitors success. Host to the future 2020 Summer Olympics, revel in the island's panoramic views, romantic beaches, and many shops.

Day 4: Hakone |

Travel to Hakone, continuing to Mount Fuji's famous 5th Station at 7,550 feet on the Mount Fuji-Hakone Adventure. Explore Japan's tallest mountain, its natural surroundings and stunning vistas with a knowledgeable guide. Then, leisurely cruise pristine Lake Ashi before a ride on Komagatake's ropeway to the summit, offering amazing views of nearby Hakone National Park. Begin your three-night Extended Tour Option by checking-in to your hotel in Hakone for a night, enjoying traditional ryokan style.

Day 5: Hakone / Takayama |

Travel by bullet train to Takayama, a historical town in Japan's alps. Embark on the Takayama cultural excursion beginning with the Tayayama Festival Floats Exhibition Hall. See colorful, hand-carved floats used for festivals. Continue to the Kusakabe Heritage Museum, once home to an Edo-era merchant, offering a range of exquisite folk art and traditional handicrafts on display. Then, get a glimpse of the past as you head to the old quarter, exploring its quaint streets lined with Edo period buildings with old homes, shops, coffee houses and sake breweries.

After a busy day of travel and sightseeing, check-in to your hotel to enjoy a romantic evening featuring a relaxing natural hot spring.

Day 6: Takayama / Shirakawago / Kanazawa |

Experience the bustling Takayama Morning Market, its delicacies and goods offered by locals including prepared foods, jewelry, fabrics, arts and crafts. Then, get your cameras ready as you head to the Shirakawago Observatory for a stunning view of the unique houses and landscape of a picturesque traditional village in Gifu. Stop for a memorable lunch in one of the countryside Gassho-style homes for a taste of regional cuisine before an informative visit to a traditional thatch-roofed farmhouse. Then check in to your Kanazawa hotel.

Day 7: Kanazawa / Kyoto |

Depart from your Kanazawa hotel to tour the Nomura Residence, once home to a Samurai family. Proceed to the Kenrokuen Garden, adjacent to the Kanazawa Castle, admiring the beauty and tranquility before a visit to Higashi Chaya-gai, a beautifully preserved historical area. Pick up a few souvenirs in Hakuza Honten, including items made from gold leaf to commemorate the experience before your train journey to Kyoto.

Day 8: Kyoto |

Day 9: Kyoto |

Embark on the Kyoto & Nara Excursion, a private guided experience. Begin at the residence of the Tokugawa shoguns of Kyoto at the imposing Nijo Castle, and the Kinkakuji Temple, also known as the Golden Pavilion. Enjoy lunch before visiting Nara's 8th-century Todaiji Temple complex and park. Marvel at Vairocana, the largest Buddha in Japan and the sacred statues in Daibutsu Hall. Together stroll the beautiful grounds of Nara Park (particularly spectacular during the Cherry Blossom season late March through much of April), delighting at the hundreds of deer that roam freely.

Day 10: Kyoto |

Immerse in a day of history on the Hiroshima & Miyajima Excursion. A bullet train takes you to Hiroshima station where you will meet your private guide and embark on a picturesque boat ride to the island of Itsukushima and the ancient Miyajima's Itsukushima Shrine. Marvel at its floating torii gate and the spiritual legends it beholds. Then visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park & Museum and the Atomic Bomb Dome, dedicated to the legacy of the first nuclear bomb attack.

Day 11 / 12: Kyoto / USA |

Kick-start your last day in Japan with a leisurely traditional breakfast before experiencing the endless possibilities of Kyoto. With 16 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kyoto, discover the enchantment of shrines and temples, museums and impeccable gardens.

Celebrate your final evening with eclectic flavors of a Japanese dinner of tempura in the nearby district of Gion. Enjoy the dances of the young Geisha or "Maiko" as you bid sayonara to this remarkably enchanting country. The next day, board your private transfer to Kansai International Airport and begin planning your next Japanese getaway.
