Sicily

Separated from mainland Italy by the Strait of Messina and the largest island in the country, Sicily sits in the Mediterranean Sea. Colonized by the Greeks in the 8th century, Sicily has been ruled by the Romans, Arabs, Normans and others, resulting in an eclectic hsitory that is still on display throughout the island.
