Restaurants
Café TATU | Offers the buzz and variety of live-action stations cooking up sensational authentic global cuisines in a vibrant and colorful atmosphere. The restaurant also features luxurious buffet breakfast and dinner with live-cooking stations. Guests can watch as their dishes are prepared fresh, hot and steaming on the spot. There is also an array of Asian and Western main courses. Lunch is available à la carte and feature Asian favorites, as well as Western favorites, including the signature dish, like its Homemade Satay.
Coco-Joe's Bar & Grill | Spacious and contemporary, this casual eatery encourages guests to lounge on comfortable couches while sipping tasty cocktails or to enjoy an intimate dinner under the stars. The creative chefs of Coco-Joe’s Bar & Grill have developed a unique menu for the eatery that combines mouth-watering grills, sizzling ocean favorites and a variety of authentic Western dishes while the bar features a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic quenchers for the thirsty traveller.
Shang Palace | Many regard the sophisticated cooking of China’s Guangdong province, known internationally as Chinese cuisine, as among the finest in the world. The resort’s Shang Palace upholds this fine tradition of excellent cuisine where color, taste and texture are expertly balanced and blended.
Borneo Lounge & Bar | Located in the main lobby, Borneo Lounge and Bar is a delightful venue for enjoying relaxing drinks and light refreshments. Live musical entertainment is played in the evening.
Cool Box Ice Cream Bar | Cool Box is Shangri-La Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu’s version of the ultimate ice cream heaven for children aged one to 100. A cool respite from the year-long sunny weather in Kota Kinabalu, Cool Box is an interactive ice-cream bar offering a range of delightful ice cream treats and toppings.
Sunset Bar | Perched on the edge of its very own peninsular, it is a world away from the madding crowd, yet close enough to the heart of Kota Kinabalu city. This bar brings fresh meaning to the term “perfectly chilled” and sets the standard in style and five-star service along with what can only be described as a stunning view of the sweeping Kota Kinabalu colorful skyline.
Recreation
Borneo is an island of enormous natural beauty. Beaches, jungle preserves and parks can be found throughout Sabah. The resort has launched a marine conservation coral planting program which aims to restore and protect certain environments and habitats that face the ever-increasing impact of humans. Exclusively owned and operated by the resort, STAR Marina provides professional water sport services, boating and cruise facilities, including a learning centre for dive enthusiasts. Guests will also enjoy a pitch and putt course, swimming pool, tennis, table tennis, water play area and petanque.
Spa
Chi, The Spa offers a unique spa design concept, with a standalone spa village sitting on an island connected to the hotel by a private causeway. Traditional Borneo treatments on the spa menu are plant-based in nature, energy aware and reflect the multi-cultural heritage of the region.
Fitness
The Health Club is fitted with the latest gym equipment and has dedicated areas for cardio, weights, Pilates and personal training.
Kids Program
Guests entering the Cool Zone will immediately notice the beautifully hand-painted walls, featuring aquatic and land animals found only in Sabah. These engaging murals provide a comfortable, inviting atmosphere for both children and their parents. The Cool Zone is divided into four main areas: The toddler section, complete with padded walls and soft toys for the safety and comfort of younger guests, the area for children to register to become a member of the Cool Zone, the creativity area for children to develop painting, crafting and other skills and the computer and TV room, which offers computer usage, Internet access and PlayStations.
Family Information
The first and only one of its kind in Borneo, the water play area comprises of a dedicated section for toddlers, teenagers and an interactive area for all ages. Enjoy theme-park-quality water slides for adults and children measuring a total length of 100 metres. Our other fun facilities include water battle stations with water balloon launchers, a 2,000-sqm swimming pool with a tapered shoreline for children and an infinity pool section for adults.
