Itinerary

Day 1: Edinburgh, Scotland: Edinburgh Castle. The Royal Botanic Gardens. Old Town. The Royal Mile. The wonders of Edinburgh are never ending. From one of Europe’s best-preserved castles to the world’s longest herbaceous border, a riot of color and culture pervades. In this city as old as Scotland itself, you’ll find the perfect blend of historic tradition and natural beauty.
Day 3: Kristiansand, Norway: Until recently, this beautiful hamlet was Norway’s secret, keeping its picturesque white-painted houses and sheltered coves tucked away and quietly hidden. It is best discovered by small ship, giving you access to the town with its lush green forests and majestic inlets.
Day 4: Oslo, Norway: Step off the ship into the center of Norway’s sparkling capital, just a short walk from the Nobel Peace Center, Radhuset (City Hall), and Aker Brygge (the colorful waterfront). Explore Viking history at the Viking Ship Museum or look up Edvard Munch’s The Scream at the National Gallery.
Day 5: Skagen, Denmark: Yellow and red houses, windswept beaches, a unique light that has drawn artists for centuries … this town at the juncture of the North Sea and Baltic is the apple of Denmark’s eye. Visit the Buried Church, shop for handmade white lace, explore Skagen’s maritime history at the open air museum, or learn about the shifting sands at the nature center.
Day 6 & 7: Copenhagen, Denmark: The city itself seems made from a fairy tale – palaces, canals, and copper spires set the mood as you amble through its cobbled streets. From the beloved Little Mermaid to the magnificent Christianborg Palace, this is a city of beautiful contrasts. Take advantage of the overnight stay to enjoy Copenhagen’s open-air theaters and charming cafés. Treat yourself to a stunning bicycle ride through Dyrehaven Park – or pedal through meadows of grazing deer and world-famous Tivoli Gardens.
Day 8: Warnemünde (Berlin), Germany: This beautiful Baltic resort is known for its long, wide expanse of startlingly white beach. Explore the unique mix of Gothic and Baroque architecture, and stroll the beach promenade. Or delve into World War II history with an optional tour in Berlin with famous landmarks like Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall and a UNESCO site like Museumsinsel.
Day 10: Visby, Sweden: In this “Pearl of the Baltic Sea,” discover what life may have been like in 13th century Europe, stepping into your own time machine as you explore the ruins and ancient buildings. The 500-year-old cathedral alone seems to make time stand still. The town’s architectural integrity earned its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 11: Stockholm, Sweden: Experience your own private Stockholm as you explore the interlacing canals and 14 tiny islands that surround this magical city. Renowned for its progressive nature, Stockholm offers avant-garde design, and trendy fashions. Visit the UNESCO sites of Frottningholm and Skogskykogarden, and the Södermalm neighborhood to discover charming old homes and picturesque main streets lined with unique shops, art galleries, and entertaining nightclubs.

Copenhagen: An Evening with Princes and the Gods From Beowulf to King Harald Bluetooth to Hamlet, the Danes have captured the world's imagination for centuries – and during this exclusive event Windstar guests will have a private glimpse into 14,000 years of Danish history. The evening begins with a canal cruise through inner Copenhagen. Denmark’s charming capital city takes on a completely different appearance when viewed from its labyrinth of canals. Watch the hurried character of daytime city life subside as Copenhagen lights up for the evening. The canal cruise ends at The National Museum, closed to the public for Windstar's exclusive use. The museum is housed in a classic 18th century mansion called The Prince's Palace – originally the residence of Crown Prince Frederik V and Crown Princess Louise. You will be welcomed by the sound of lurs – ancient horns that date back to the Bronze Age. Explore this world-class museum, discovering Ice Age reindeer hunters, Vikings, details of Norse mythology, and beautiful art from Prince Frederik’s private collection. Then enjoy some Danish appetizers and a taste of the local aquavit. When it comes time to depart, the lur blowers will send you on your way.
