Important Note: Our travel protection plans cover cancellations related to COVID-19, including government-imposed travel bans or other travel restrictions. We highly recommend a travel protection plan for such conditions.

Travel protection is available with Cancel-For-Any-Reason (CFAR) features for cancellation or changes made prior to vacation departure. These plans, which must be purchased at time of booking, include a non-insurance Cancellation Fee Waiver provided by Journese. Travel Protection Plans payments are not refundable except as provided in the plan documents. Travel Protection Plan cannot be purchased with a Future Travel Credit (FTC). Journese offers two options for the waiver:

  • Cancel for Any Reason – Future Travel Credit (FTC): for this more affordable option, compensation is paid in the form of credit for future travel with Journese, valid for one year from date of issue, less the cost of the travel protection plan
  • Cancel for Any Reason - Cash Back: refunds in the original form of payment (cash, check or credit card), less the cost of the travel protection plan

These extensive travel protection plans, which must be purchased at time of booking, offer insurance benefits underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, non-insurance assistance services provided by Generali Global Assistance, and a non-insurance cancellation fee waiver provided by Journese (should travelers need to change or cancel their trip purchased through Journese prior to departure for any reason). Plans are designed to meet travelers’ needs at an affordable price.

Travel Advisor Commission Protection Included
Travel advisor commission is protected at no additional fee with both plan options. With Cancel for Any Reason – Future Travel Credit (FTC), travel advisors receive the greater of $200 or 10% of their original commission, not to exceed the original commission amount. Cancel for Any Reason - Cash Back includes 100% commission protection. Commission Protection is paid once per trip plan purchased. Protection plan coverage (FTC or Cash Back) must be included for all travelers on the booking and be paid in full with initial deposit/payment for your trip. The booking must be paid in full at time of cancellation and must be canceled in full to receive commission protection. Claims for commission must be made via email within 10 business days of cancellation for plans purchased on or after 03/11/2020. Any travel agency fee is not protected with either Cancel for Any Reason protection plan option, and will be refunded back to the client. All offers and programs are subject to change or cancellation without notice.


  • Cancel/Change for Any Reason - FTC: You receive reimbursement in Journese travel credit for future travel for all unused non-refundable Journese travel arrangements if you cancel or change your trip prior to departure.
  • Cancel/Change for Any Reason - Cash Back: You receive reimbursement in cash/original form of payment for all unused non-refundable Journese travel arrangements if you must cancel or change your trip prior to departure.
  • Any remaining balance on the reservation will be refunded in cash or by credit card.

Journese requires written notice of cancellation. This only refunds those Travel Arrangements purchased from Journese and refunds cannot exceed $10,000 per person. The Journese Cruise Vacation Protection Plan Plus provides coverage for cruise vacation packages.

Journese’ Future Travel Credits (FTC) are issued in the names of the passengers in the original reservations and are non-refundable, non-transferable, valid for travel within one year from date of issue and may not be redeemed for cash.


  • Trip Interruption can reimburse expenses for unused non-refundable land travel arrangements, plus additional transportation costs paid, if you interrupt your trip for a covered reason (subject to a maximum benefit amount that is the lesser of your Trip Cost or $10,000 per person).
  • Pre-Existing Medical Condition Exclusion Waiver when plan is purchased with your initial deposit/payment for your trip, provided you are not already disabled from travel at time of purchase.
  • $25,000 Accident & Sickness Medical Expense Benefit can cover medical expenses incurred during your trip (including up to $750 for emergency dental expenses). *
  • $50,000 Emergency Medical Evacuation, Medical Repatriation and Return of Remains Coverage. *
  • $1,000 Baggage and Personal Effects.
  • $750 Trip Delay (maximum of $150 per day). *
  • $750 Missed Connection (three hours or more).
  • $250 Baggage Delay.
  • $25,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment.

Vacation package coverage rate tier determined by total package price divided by number of adults (18 years and older) on booking. For children ages 2-17: rates are 50% savings off adult rate for Regular Season and Holiday Travel.
