Located on a 4,000 acre expanse of Nicaraguan jungle, nearly half of Morgan's Rock is a private protected reserve, two hours drive from Managua, the capital of Nicaragua, on the Southern Pacific Coast and just fifteen minutes from the famous surf town of San Juan del Sur.

General Information

Barefoot luxury on a private tropical beach, stunning ocean-view bungalows, all within a 4,000-acre jungle define the Morgan's Rock experience. The ecolodge is a 15-bungalow hideaway on a mile-long picturesque sandy beach, frequented year-round by nesting sea turtles. Nearly half of the vast property is a government-designated reserve. The rest is low-impact agricultural land (a farm called El Aguacate) and sustainable tropical forestland (owned and managed by Desarrollo Ecoforestal, S.A.). Morgan's Rock opened in 2004 by owners, the Poncon family The forested land and reserve hosts a variety of exotic animals like spider, howler and capuchin monkeys, deer, reptiles, and many native and migrant birds.

Room Details

Fifteen sustainably constructed beachfront bungalows, nearly all of which boast a gorgeous view of the hacienda’s private beach. Each bungalow includes a comfortable terrace where guests may enjoy a morning coffee, wine at sunset, or just soak in the stunning vistas and unparalleled wildlife. Each three-sided bungalow is perched on a cliff 30-100 feet over the private beach and cove, just across a 50-yard jungle suspension bridge. Set into the treetops, each bungalow accommodates up to five people, a queen size day bed on the balcony and artwork by Nicaraguan artist Augusto Silva.

Guest Services

Guest services include an activity desk, babysitting or referral service, bridal services, concierge, currency exchange, gift shop, internet access, laundry services, twice daily maid service and more.

All-Inclusive

Options to include breakfast or all meals are available, as well as an option to include on-site excursions including a jungle walk, breakfast at the farm, kayaking i n Estuary and night walk excursions.

Restaurants

La Bastide | Guests are in for a treat when they dine in at the hacienda - whether at the lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean, or over a hearty breakfast of handmade tortillas and gallopinto (rice and beans) down at the farmhouse. A large working farm with cows, chickens, fruit and vegetable gardens, and even a sustainable shrimp farm, Morgan’s Rock sources roughly 60% of its food products from farming activities that take place right on the premises. Guests are welcome to visit the organic farm, where they can lend a hand collecting eggs or milking the cows, or simply kick back and enjoy a rustic breakfast cooked on the hearth by the lovely Doña Candida. Participants in this activity will even learn how to make delicious homemade tortillas! Diners at the comfortable outdoor restaurant and bar can enjoy a variety of special Nicaraguan dishes as well as an array of international flavors. The restaurant is located on a shady platform overlooking the pool, surrounded by forest, and beyond it the private beach and cove.
